He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Thomas Sr. and Ruth Marion Carey (Calkins); his wife Faye Crouse; and his grandson Josiah Crouse. He is survived by: his children, Thomas Carey (Nancy Chang) of Rockford, IL and Katie Colony (Dean) of North Liberty, IA; his stepchildren, Lori J. Fredrickson (Joe Voss) of Indianola, IA and Daniel C. Crouse (Lek) of Blackhawk, SD; his siblings, Jan Wolff (Franz) and Frank Carey of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Jennifer Burtz (Jason), Lindsey Ulrich (Roy), Jamie Thomas (Robert), Holli Duncan (Scott), Andrew Carey, Beau Kuhrt, Olivia Kuhrt, Megan Colony, Eric Colony and Alison Colony; his nephews, Sean Wolff, Conor Carey and Ryan Carey; Tommy. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Puppy Jake Foundation of Des Moines or Tayloe House Hospice.
