Emily Wood Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Emily Wood (Des Moines, Iowa), born in Webb City, Missouri, who passed away on March 20, 2026 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Alice Durham and Ora Durham; her husband Billy Dean Wood; her sisters, Susie Gillham and Shirley Marshall; and her stepsister Mae Durham (Billy Michael Wood).

She is survived by: her children, Mark Wood (Sarah), Marsha Martinez (Bryan) and Malinda Wheeler (Brent); her grandchildren, Emily, Mindy Martinez, Kate, Lucas Wheeler, Charlie Preuninger, Isaac and Joseph Cutwright; her great grandchildren, Landon and Madden Preuninger; and her friends, Sharon, Harlen Koenen, Nancy, Daniel Evans and Shirley Hurley.

Most of Janie's working years were spent as a receptionist at The Iowa Foundation for Medical Care.
