With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gary J. Sweeney of Des Moines, Iowa, born in Waukon, Iowa, who passed away on September 6, 2023 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Cletus Sweeney and Ella Sweeney; his wife Melanie; his nieces, Janette Jacobs and Billie Sweeney; Melvin, Lois Lesher and Linda Jurrens.
He is survived by: his children, Keevan (Mike Kosidowski) of Eagan, MN, Jennifer (Kevin Zaugg) of Carlisle, IA and Chris (Missy Sweeney) of Waterloo, IA; his grandchildren, Ally, Danielle, Jack (Reilly), CarLee, Ava, Fay, Lily, Ella and Emmett; his siblings, Bonnie Ehle of Wisconsin, Pat Sweeney (Katy) of Waterloo, Terry Sweeney (Sue) of Waterloo, Nancy Boesen (Mark) of Waterloo and Jan Etringer (Mike) of Waterloo; and his siblings-in-law, Rhonda Dickerson of Omaha and David Lesher (Carol) of Grimes.
Memorial contributions received by the family will be given in memory of Gary to Gentiva Hospice.
