He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Hunnell and Anna Hunnell (Vaughn); his wife Donna Hunnell (Mefford); his siblings, Dwight Hunnell, Barbara Dawson and Shirley Des Rosiers; and his stepson Rob Hobson.
He is survived by: his children, Jane Hagman (Wes) of Oregon and John Hunnell (Lisa) of Des Moines, Iowa; his sister Linda Wichhardt of Florida; and his friend Marie Thayer. He is also survived by two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery (1 NE 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313).
