She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Kerr and Helen Perkins Kerr; and her husband Eugene G. Peniston. She is survived by: her children, Denise Renee and Eugene Lyle; her grandchildren, Eric T. Peniston Carrington and Jeanette M. Carrington; her great grandchild DaMarion M. Yin of Des Moines; her brother Floyd Kerr of Menifee, California; her nephews, William "Lonnie" Kerr of Hannibal, Gregory Peniston of Long Beach and Courtney Peeples of Hardeeville; her niece JoAnn Peniston of Moline; and her cousin Ned Kerr Jr. of Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks those interested to make a donation to Des Moines EveryStep non-profit providing the hospice care she received.
