He was predeceased by: his parents, Christopher Leinen and Mary Leinen (Moyer). He is survived by: his wife Shelby Leinen; and his children, Jody Benz (Raleigh), Jon Leinen (Sharyl) and Dave Leinen. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home (105 4th St SW, Altoona, IA 50009). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of Howard.
