He was predeceased by: his father William Culligan Brodie; his wife Phyllis Jean "PJ" Brodie (Leto); his brother Stephen Brodie; his nephew Tom Leto; his nieces, Laura Brodie and Susie Brodie; and his brothers-in-law, Ray Leto and Ronald Leto.
He is survived by: his daughters, Theresa Sullivan and Suzanne Tjaden; his grandchildren, Jesse, Tara Sullivan, Alexandrea Tjaden (Kenny Boatwright) and Izabella "Bella Bella" Guzman; his brother Douglas Brodie; his nephews, Todd, Ryan, Tanner Brodie, Jacob Peake and Joe W. Leto; his niece Sophie Brodie; and his brother-in-law Robert Leto. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to "Tom's Closet" through Catholic Charities, Diocese of Des Moines, Food Pantry; St. Anthony Catholic Church; "Friends of the Cemetery" at Iowa Veterans Cemetery; or to American Legion Post 403, Veterans Reception Center.
