He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Havens and Louisa Havens (Hansen); and his sister Alberta. He is survived by: his wife Shirley (Thorton); his children, Laurie McGarry (Bill) of Knoxville, John, Daniel and Patrick Havens (Kathy) of Des Moines; and his siblings, Emma, Mary, Dorothy, Otto and Alan. He is also survived by grand-children and great grand-children.
