It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jon R. Kernes Sr. of Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on January 27, 2023, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Kernes and Dorothy Kernes (Rhinehart); his daughter Christina Marie Kernes; and his brother James Kernes. He is survived by: his children, Jon Kernes, Jr. (Jennifer), Jeremiah Kernes (Julie), James Kernes (Delayna), Sarah Readout (Matt) and Stephanie Kernes; and his siblings, Anna Rice, Howard Kernes (Jan) and David Kernes. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
