It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Karen R. (Sorensen) Simpson of Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on June 21, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As Karen R. departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Karen R.. Though Karen R. may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, P. Herman Sorensen and Clara Sorensen; and her husband Richard "Dick" Simpson. She is survived by: her children, Kathryn Green (Scott) and Michael Simpson (Angela); her stepdaughter Denise Doepp (Larry); her brother Paul Sorensen (Sandra); and her brother-in-law Lyle Simpson (Janet). She is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hamilton's Funeral Home (605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Union Park Presbyterian Church or Grand View University in her memory.
