It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Leo Joseph Hejda Jr. (Des Moines, Iowa), who passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

As Leo departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Leo may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Leo leaves behind.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Sr. Hejda and Lorraine Hejda (Kehoe); his wife Betty Hejda; and his brother Richard "Rick" Hejda (Mimi). He is survived by: his sons, Curtis Hejda, Craig Hejda (Stacy), Clark Hejda (Darcee) and Jon Hejda; and his sister-in-law Catherine Hejda. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

“Leo was one of the unsung hero’s of Iowa golf. He took me to my first USGA Championship in Indianapolis. He treated all of the Iowa qualifiers like gold and was very proud to be our chaperone. I specifically recall a lunch he included me in with the great Bill Campbell a USGA icon while in NJ for the Public Links Championship. Leo was a wonderful man who always took the time to call and congratulate me on a good tournament. He will be missed. Rest in Peace. Mike McCoy”
