We are sad to announce that on September 28, 2025, at the age of 94, LeRoy Merkel of Des Moines, Iowa passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of LeRoy Merkel to pay them a last tribute.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though LeRoy may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his wife Norma Edmundson. He is survived by: his children, NorRae Spohn (Greg) and Mark Merkel (Cindy); his grandchildren, Michael Spohn, David Spohn, Andria Keadle and Chase Merkel; his great grandchildren, Joshua Spohn and Eleanor Keadle; and his sister Sharon Gilbert.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Glendale Cemetery (4909 University Ave, Des Moines, IA 50311).
