We announce the death of Mary Eveline Porter in Altoona, Iowa, who passed away on October 21, 2026, at the age of 89. Mary Eveline will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Nellie Stickler and Jesse Stickler; her son Larry Porter; and her siblings, Gerald, Ralph, Dick, Joe Stickler and Joanie DeGroot.
She is survived by: her husband Merrill Porter; her daughter Diana Billhorn (Alan); her granddaughters, Dawn Dale (Will) and Brandy Clark (TJ); and her siblings-in-law, Janice Porter and Jim Porter (Rose Mary). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home (5400 SW 9th St, Des Moines, IA 50315).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's name to Hospice of the Midwest.
