With solemn reverence, we commemorate Mary Tarter (Des Moines, Iowa), whose life came to an end on July 31, 2025 at the age of 81, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Shelton and Marian Shelton; her husbands, Delbert Vestal, Willard Tarter and George Leach; her son Jeffrey "Pep" Ray Vestal; her granddaughter Haley Hols; and her siblings, Don, Dick, Howard, Karl, Jerry, David, Bobby, Iris, Betty, Normie and Joy.
She is survived by: her children, Marian Way (Gene), David Vestal, Clem Vestal and Teresa Basham (Bobby); and her brother James Shelton. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hamilton's Funeral Home (605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family to assist with expenses.
