With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Maurice Smith (Des Moines, Iowa), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 23, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wade Smith and Mary Smith (Stump); his wife Christina D'Ostilio Smith; and his brother LaVerne Smith. He is survived by: his children, Wade Smith, Jr. (Julie), Christie McConathy (Scott) and Margaret McKinney (Charles); and his grandchildren, Mike Norris, Ben Norris, Chad Norris, Tracy Levang (Brett), Todd Smith, Aaron Smith, Patrick Smith (Alex), Danielle McKinney and Nicole Garduno (Tomas). He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home (5400 SW 9th St, Des Moines, IA 50315). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery (7601 Fleur Dr, Des Moines, IA 50321).
