He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Callahan and Rachel Callahan; his son Jeff Callahan; his grandson Josh Callahan; and his brother Doug Callahan.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Jon Callahan (Carolyn) and Kellie Mallett (Chad); his grandchildren, Kile Callahan (Laken), Clayton Callahan, Jamilee Pickett (Mikel), Amber Canfield (Eli), Christopher Callahan (Lindsey), Katelyn Callahan, Logan Christenson, Hannah Fitzgerald, Dylan Fitzgerald, Carter Mallett (McKenzie) and Jared Mallett (Makayla); his sister Nancy Sams (Bryan); and his siblings-in-law, Katherine Callahan, Cindy Williams and Randy Williams (Jackie). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
The military honors was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Hamilton's Funeral Home (605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309).
