Michael Thomas Nieters Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Thomas Nieters of Des Moines, Iowa, born in Rock Island, Illinois, who passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Norbert Nieters and Gertrude Nieters; and his brother Mark Nieters. He is survived by: his wife Carol Nieters; his children, Piper Nieters Su (Andrew), Belinda Hood and Michael Jones, Sr. (Patty); his grandchildren, Michael Jones, Jr., Courtney Lyle (Drew), Zak Jones (Jenn), Emily Hood (Tyler), Nick Hood, Angelica Jones and Elliot Su; his great grandchildren, Alisa Jones, Kal Jones, Charlette Jones, Chase McMickle, Brielle Lyle and Tucker Jones; and his sister-in-law Grace Nieters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Iles Grandview Park Chapel (3211 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Altoona Christian Church (2890 1st Ave S, Altoona, IA 50009).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Altoona Christian Church.
