He was predeceased by: his parents, Forest Quaintance and Doris Quaintance; and his sister Beverly King. He is survived by: his daughters, Sara Quaintance of Centennial, CO and Mindy Bryant (Eric) of Pleasant Hill; his girlfriend Karen Hernandez of Des Moines; his sons, Joe Hernandez II and Jason Patrick; his siblings, William "Bill" (Linda), Jeff Quaintance and Mary "Kaye" Wellendorf; his sister-in-law Chris Cart; his close friends, Stephen Newkirk (Brenda) and Steve; and his grandchild Grampo.
Memorials may be given in his name in lieu of flowers, to the American Cancer Society.
