He was predeceased by: his parents, George Johnson and Hannah Johnson (Bangert); his wife Joyce; and his sisters, Lois Stanley, Maxine Claussen, Geraldine Zeman, Jane Simonson and Carol Schmidt.
He is survived by: his sons, Chad Johnson of Des Moines and Jay Johnson (Kristen) of Urbandale; and his grandchildren, Aubrey Johnson and Matthew Johnson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens (121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at the Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery (1 NE 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Link Associates, an organization supporting special needs, in honor of Paul's lifelong devotion and compassion.
