It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phyllis Ann Carpenter of Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on October 17, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Oaks and Lola Harvey Oaks; her husband Gerald Carpenter; her son Jon Carpenter; her granddaughter Cara Carpenter; and her sister Betty McDaniel.

She is survived by: her sons, Joel Carpenter (Terri), Jeffrey Carpenter (Peggy) and Jason Carpenter (Kelli Joelson); her daughter-in-law Ruth Carpenter; and her sister Barbara Summy. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to the current pandemic a private family funeral service has been scheduled for 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, October 21st, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. John Epperson of Grinnell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to EveryStep Hospice, in Des Moines.
