With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Richard Jay Ansher of Des Moines, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis David Ansher and Genevieve Bernstein Ansher; his sister Norma Elaine Cranberg; his brother-in-law Gilbert Cranberg; and his cousins, Alan Bernstein, Thomas Diamondstone and Bennett Oberstein.
He is survived by: his children, Jay Ansher of Bloomington, IL and Lynn Ansher of Las Vegas, NV; his grandson Alexander Ansher; his sibling's children, Lee Cranberg (Sherry) of Boston, MA, James Cranberg (Judith) of Glendale, WI, Andrew Cranberg (Renee) of Buffalo Grove, IL and Marcia Wolff (Samuel) of Washington, DC; and his cousins, Barbara Oberstein Kaplan (Michael) of Warminster, PA, Judy Bernstein Shorstein of Jacksonville, FL and Jaqueline Oberstein Wald (Michael) of Albuquerque, NM.. He is also survived by eight great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Des Moines Public Library, West Des Moines Public Library, The Turner Jazz Center at Drake University, Des Moines Jewish Federation, Temple B'nai Jeshurun, the American Red Cross and University of Iowa Athletics.
