He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Sychra and Delores Sychra (Peterson); his brother Phil Sychra; and his brother-in-law Bob Stewart. He is survived by: his daughter Carole Sychra; his wife Debbie (Debbie); his stepdaughters, Natalie (Corey Nove) and Allison (John Smiley); his grandchildren, Liam, Henry Curtis, Sienna, Alandra Nove, Willow and Fiona Smiley; and his sisters, Sandra Stuva and Peggy Stewart. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church (1001 Pleasant St, Des Moines, IA 50309). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be given to Central Iowa Shelter & Services, which would be meaningful to Rich.
