We announce the death of Ruby Kay Eley (Des Moines, Iowa), born in Wapello, Iowa, who passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 84. Ruby will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her husband William Eley; her parents, Robert Saylor and Hester Saylor; her brother Russell Saylor; and her grandson Bradley Eley.

She is survived by: her children, Rachel Ulum (Charles), Billy Eley (Sue), Dennis Eley (Heather) and Denise Ransom (Ryan); and her siblings, Robert, Roberta and Rebecca. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and more than 20 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 4320 NW 2nd St, Des Moines, IA 50313.

In lieu of flowers, Ruby requests that donations be made to the family, who will determine a fitting memorial in her honor at a later date.
