He is survived by: his friend Ron Hensel; his siblings-in-law, Shirley, Cheryl and Dennis; his daughter Traci VanGorp (Darin); his grandchildren, Matthew, Adam (Leigha) and Kate; his daughter Karrie Pingel (Paul); his grandchildren, Kassidy (Brett), Alexis (Trey) and Lance; his son Cory Heaberlin (Sally); his grandchildren, Eliza, Rosie, Ruby and Gus; and his pet Herky.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Christ Lutheran Church (6411 SE 5th St, Des Moines, IA 50315). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
