She was predeceased by: her father Howard Grimes; her husband Kenneth Freerksen; her mother Vivian Grimes-Hillyard (Bolich); her stepfather Edwin Hillyard; and her brothers, Ronald Grimes and William Hillyard.
She is survived by: her children, Howard Freerksen (Jenni Rae Scott) and Laura Stalzer (Jay); her grandsons, Landon Stalzer and Drew Stalzer; and her pet Missie. She is also survived by other loving relatives and special friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens (121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery (1 NE 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313).
Memorial contributions may be directed St. Jude Children's Hospital and/or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Sue.
