He was predeceased by: his parents, Ron "Sailor" Hays and June Hays; his siblings, Ron Hays and Vyla Frankford; and his siblings-in-law, Carl and Dee Selzer.

He is survived by: his wife Jennifer; his children, Heather Hays of Des Moines and Tad Hays (Sarah) of Liberty, MO; his granddaughters, Ella Hays and Reese Hays of Liberty, MO; and his brother Clay Hays (Linda) of San Antonio, TX.. He is also survived by many loving sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church or to the family for a memorial honoring Gabby.
