He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Winebrenner and Naomi Winebrenner; his son Thomas Cahail; and his friends, John Solhjem, Jr. and Darla Ogg.

He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Cowden (Tracy) of Ogden and Katherine Cahail (David Lundberg) of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Wesley Johnson of Des Moines and Elizabeth Fogarty (Aiden) of Slater; his daughter Ashley Cowden of Ames; and his great grandchild Isaac Fogarty.
