He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Samuel and Irene Samuel (Gerard); his wife Diana Lynn Behne; his parents-in-law, Bud and Marian Behne; his sister Shirley; and his brother-in-law Ron Besst.
He is survived by: his daughter Tia; his sister Coretta "Sam" Samuel; his son Nick Puls; his nieces and nephews, Kelli Meyer (Nik), Scott Besst (Amy), Kelvin Short (Luann), Bobbie Jo Trude, Josh Trude and Jenny Estrada (Miguel); his close friend Nancy Adolphi; his grandchildren, Charlotte, Ezra and Elowyn; Stephanie and Liz. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews; loving in-laws and other extended family.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 2430 12th St Ct, DeWitt, IA 52742.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family encourages those wishing to express their sympathy with a gift do so by giving to Camp Courageous of Iowa, a place that Tia attends yearly.
