He was predeceased by: his parents, Mathias Franzen and Mary Evelyn Franzen (Dwyer); his siblings, Vincent (Darlene), James (Marletta), Gerald, Leonard, Martin, Anna Marie Wagner (Norbert), Marcelene Eganhouse (Alan), Margaret "Rosalie" Franzen and Rita Hughes; and his brother-in-law Thomas Reider.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Creighton; his children, Rita Franzen (Elbert Willis) of Eldridge, Lisa Franzen of Maquoketa and Rodney Franzen (Melissa) of Welton; and his siblings, Joann Reider, Patricia Wagner (Orville), Marvin Franzen (Barbara) and Wayne Franzen (Julia). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
