He was predeceased by : his parents, Harvey Biel and Mary Biel (Pickett); his siblings, Stanley Biel, Clifford "Joey" Biel, Julia Titus and Cynthia Moore; and his in-laws, Leo and Rosalie Trimble.

He is survived by : his children, Melanie Smith (Mark) of Van Meter, Louis Biel (Mona) of Davenport, Molly Bierman (Daryl Budde) of Preston, Lance Biel (Ashley) of Andover, Luke Biel (Julie Howes) of DeWitt, Landon Biel (Melissa) of Dayton and Levi Biel of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Cameron, Marshall Smith, Wyatt, Libby, Abigail Bierman, Michael, Aryanna, Will Budde, Henry, Rosemary, Francis, Theodore Biel, Jackson, Delaney Kutka and Charlie Biel; his sister Marian Beiwel; his brothers-in-law, Nelson Moore and Dennis Schrader; and his niece Stephanie Shumaker. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
