She was predeceased by : her parents, Paul Burgdorf and Sophia Burgdorf (Heiser); her husband Murel; and her daughter Denise Marie. She is survived by : her children, Nina Lange (Bernard) of Donnellson, Stephanie Reneau (Edward) of Warsaw and William P. Dains (Linda) of Donnellson, Iowa; her grandchildren, Justin Reneau, Carlee Ann Jenkins (Chris), Christy Brisley (Aaron), Miranda Miller, Paulette Hays, Merridith McMurray, Tonya Harvey (Leonard), Seth Dains and Clayton Dains (Mary Ann); her sister-in-law Darlene Burgdorf of O'Fallon, Illinois; her great grandchildren, Samuel (Kaitlyn), Micheal Lange, Jennifer Jenkins, Maia Riddle (Elija), Dakota Estes (Jacob), Tyler, Izaac Miller, Hannah, Erica Brisley, Haley Householder, Ethen Hays, Emma, Everlee Harvey and Sydney Dains; and her great great grandchild Sydney Lange. She is also survived by four step children and several step grandchildren.

Dianne Hayes wrote a sympathy message

“I remember going to visit Aunt Verna when I was little, the smell of dial soap always brings memories of her old farm house. When I was older my family and I would go to visit, ALWAYS we would end up in the woods cutting up fire wood!! We were cheap labor, but always got a good meal out of the deal. The best was the time we went to visit and she said there weren't any green beans left to pick, 4-5 5 gallon buckets later----. She will be missed. Sorry for your loss.”
