He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Brass and Ila Brass (Kothenbeutel); his brothers, Veryl, Gene and Jerry Brass; his son-in-law Jarrod Opkis; and his sisters-in-law, Berdene Brass, Wilma "Tudy" Brass and Chan.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Steenhard of Dows; his daughters, Cathy Kaune of Mason City and Carolyn Alden (Steve) of Nora Springs; his grandchildren, Tony Kaune II of Mason City, Emily Williams (Jordan) of Britt, Jake Kaune of Iowa Falls, Jonathan Opkis of Mason City and Cameron Opkis (Payton Neuhring) of Iowa City; his siblings, Janice Terfehn (Arden) of Austinville, James Brass of Clarion and Ilene Hanson (Kenneth) of Waukon; and his sister-in-law Ilene Brass of Newton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home (1309 4th St NE, Hampton, IA 50441). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Zion Reformed Church (2029 Jonquil Ave Unit B, Sheffield, IA 50475).
