He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Gentry and Martha Violetta Rudd Shockley; his son Rob Shockley; his great grandchild Norah Jones; and his siblings, Roger Shockley, Jacqueline Shockley and Karolyn Wilson.
He is survived by: his children, Ronda Baird of Surprise and Rusty Shockley (Michelle) of Stuart, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jake Baird, Lyndi Jones (Kyle), Reed Shockley (Madison), Regan Lampe (Brad) and Baylie Shockley; and his sister Marilyn McElderry (Irelan) of Drakesville, Iowa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established to the Davis County Old Soldiers and Settlers Reunion.
