He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Maiers and Henrietta Maiers (Lake); his siblings, Leon Maiers (Harriet), Edwin Maiers (Laura), Eileen Kluesner (Gerald), Wilmer Maiers (Norma) and Cletus Maiers (Shirley); his parents-in-law, Joseph and Vivian Beecher (Meloy); and his siblings-in-law, Virginia Beecher, Jack Beecher (Flora Lue), Janann Driggers, Rich Beecher, Bob Beecher (Betty), Dave Beecher (Barb) and Joey Beecher.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia A. Beecher (Pat); his children, Kelly Markham of Dubuque, Kathy Foley (Barney) of Cedar Rapids, Laurie Clemens (Mark) of Dubuque, Lynn Turner (Tom) of Dubuque and Sean Maiers (Lance) of Minneapolis; and his brother-in-law Walter Driggers of Las Vegas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to Hospice of Dubuque to honor Butch's life.
