He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Progar and Frances Progar (Okoren); his wife Sharon Huber; his stepmother Jean Progar (Murzyn); his daughter Annette Ernzen; and his siblings-in-law, Wynne Progar and Jim Geary.

He is survived by : his daughters, Andrea Progar of Cedar Rapids, IA and Angela Hefel (Jeff) of Winona, MN; his grandchildren, Alex Hefel (Carrie) of Hutchinson, MN, Jenna Letsch (Nick) of Waukee, IA and Zach Hefel of Minneapolis, MN; his great grandchildren, Caroline and Ryan Letsch; his close friend Sally Wernimont; and his siblings, Roberta Kaminsky (Richard), Jean Geary, Joseph Progar, Thomas Progar (Geriann), Jim Progar (Michele) and Paul Progar (Maureen).

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Holy Spirit Parish- Sacred Heart (2215 windsor Ave, Dubuque, IA 52001). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving); or to Hospice of Dubuque.
