He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlin Kohnen and Rosemary Kohnen (Licht); his grandparents, Carl and Mildred Licht; his siblings, Tom Kohnen, Pamela Kass, Susan Upmann, Nancy Sanders and Patricia Chaloupka; his brothers-in-law, John Kass and Lyle Upmann; his nephew James Adams Jr. (Tobey Tischhauser); and his great-niece Marley Rose Tischhauser.
He is survived by: his sisters, Janice Schultz (Jim) of Alexandria, MN, Kimberly Hyde (Shane) of East Dubuque, IL and Carla Heller of Dubuque, IA; his siblings-in-law, William Sanders of Dubuque, IA and Shawn Kohnen of Dubuque, IA; and his caregiver Molly. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
