With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John Donahue of Dubuque, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. John left this world on September 15, 2025 at the age of 89, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Donahue and Mary Donahue (Cahill); his wife Nancy Kretz of Mary's Catholic Church; his son Shaun; his siblings, Joseph Donahue (Janelle), David Donahue (Sandy), Rita Mitchell, Rosey Kahler (George) and Joan Gatena Donahue; and his brother-in-law Ed Kretz.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Donahue (Dana) of Owatonna, MN, Daniel Donahue of Queen Creek, AZ and Kristine Donahue Probst of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Chantal, Caitlin (Nick), Brittany, Jonathon and Jackson; his great grandchildren, Jay and Brynn; his close friend Rachael Hall of Dubuque; and his in-laws, Peter, Mary Huber (Bob) and Sharon Kretz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home (2659 John F Kennedy Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Resurrection (4300 Asbury Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002).
