He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Rettenmaier and Marie Rettenmaier (Zollioffer); his wife Marcia R. Bainbridge; his son Randy "Rabbit" Rettenmaier; his son-in-law Herb Lindsay; his sister Joan Kahle; and his siblings-in-law, Lyle, Wayne, Marilyn Langas and Darlene Bally.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Rettenmaier (Deb) of Stockton, CA, Karen Breitbach (Daniel) of Maquoketa, IA, Steve Rettenmaier (Rita) of Dubuque, Craig Rettenmaier (Janet) of Dubuque, Linda Atkinson of Dubuque, Joan Lindsay (Kevin Brandel) of Durango, IA and Mark Rettenmaier of Dubuque; his brother George J. Rettenmaier (Vynnette) of San Antonio, TX; and his siblings-in-law, Sandy Busch of Dubuque, Mary Ann Bainbridge of Lancaster, WI, Bob Bainbridge (Sharon) of Independence, IA, Gary Bainbridge (Peg) and David Bally of Dixon, IL.. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
