He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Welu and Loras Welu (Duggan); his wife Beverly "Bev" Welu; his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Mary Vivian Howes; his brothers, Edward Welu Jr. and Thomas Welu; and his siblings-in-law, Robert "Bob" Howes, Thomas "Tucker" Howes, James "Jim" Brown and Betty Welu.
He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer Harding (Jeff) of Navarre, FL; his grandsons, Quentin Welu of Dubuque, IA and Alex Aragon (Lola) of Colorado Springs; his great grandchild Ezekiel "Zeke" Aragon; his sister Pat Brown of Dubuque, IA; and his in-laws, William "Bill" Howes of East Dubuque, IL, Linda Howes of Dubuque, Roxanne Bahl (Ron) of Dubuque and Doris Howes of Dubuque.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 5th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory (2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003). A wake will be held on Thursday, September 4th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 5th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church (2001 St Joseph St, Dubuque, IA 52001).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethany Home or Hospice of Dubuque.
