He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Unsen and Mary Fromptknecht Unsen. He is survived by: his wife Diane Unsen; his children, Joseph Richard Unsen and Jamie; his siblings, Jim Unsen (Barb) and Jane Scardino; his aunt Marge; and his uncle Joe. He is also survived by brother's and sister's in-law, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory (2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003).
