He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Mallie and Stella Mallie; and his sister Anne Mundt. He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Murphy of Dike; his children, Kathy Schneider (Steve) of Bloomington, MN, Mary Beth Garrett of Dubuque, IA, Mark Mallie (Molly) of Rochester, NY and Judge Matthew Mallie of Brainerd, MN.; his grandchildren, Kelley Schneider (Igor Karlicic) of Chicago, John Schneider of Chicago, Rachel Schneider of Boulder, CO, Katie Bridges (Travis) of Virginia Beach and Patrick Garrett of Norfolk, VA.; his great grandchild Stella Bridges; his siblings, Mary Townley (Craig), Mildred Deevers (Roger), Beth Meyer (Mark), David (Jennifer), Joe (Betty), Michael (Marilyn) and John (Jody); his brother-in-law Gene Mundt; and his caregivers, Sean Bradley, Ed, Sandy Gau and Julie Kaufman.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to St. Columbkille Church, Stonehill Care Center and Dubuque Rescue Mission.
