He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Shaben and Agnes Shaben (Brinkman); his siblings, Jean Vondrum (Vincent), Leroy Shaben, John Shaben, Lea Mae Esser (Lester), Joanne "Sis" Duncan (Gerald), Lila Hochhausen (Julius) and Rose Mary Schnorrenberg; and his brother-in-law Bob Hudson.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Shaben of Dubuque; his children, Lori Tracy (Tom) of Cassville, WI, Sheri Leibfried (Paul) of Lancaster, WI and Rich Shaben (Christine) of Portage, WI; his sisters, Gloria Hudson of Cassville, WI and Judy Laufenberg (Dennis) of Cassville, WI; and his brother-in-law John Schnorrenberg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
