She was predeceased by: her parents, Francis J. "Frank" McPoland and Bernadette A. McPoland (Hall); her husband John "Honus" Schiel; her son William "Billy" Schiel; and her siblings, Eileen Nauman, Mary Coffin, Theresa McPoland, Elizabeth Tillman, Lois Bublitz, Robert McPoland and Shirley Maiers.

She is survived by: her children, Bruce Schiel, Diane Hoffman (Richard "Byrd") of Dubuque, IA, Robert "Bo" Schiel (Ronda) of Dubuque, IA, Janet Stumpf (Ronald "Woody") of Dubuque, IA, Nancy Biechler (Dan) of Marion, IA and Paul Schiel (Ana) of Winston-Salem, NC; and her grandchildren, Matthew Schiel, Jill Hageman, Kelly Davis, Joseph Hoffman, Molly Schiel, Michael Schiel, Sarah Krause, Shawn Stumpf, Christina Weidemann, Nicholas Stumpf, Christopher Biechler, Leslie Hoyt, Jennifer Biechler and Michael Biechler. She is also survived by her 26 great-grandchildren.
