She was predeceased by: her parents, Michael Gassman and Luella Gassman (Fetchele); her husband John Stackis; her brother Robert Gassman; her brothers-in-law, Al Butlett and Donald Sutter; her son-in-law Joseph Krier; her grandson-in-law Brian Somerville; and her great grandchild Maggie Stackis.
She is survived by: her children, Deborah Krier (Joe Korzelik) of Dubuque, Karen Klinkhammer (Steve) of Asbury, Jack Stackis of Peosta and Steve Stackis (Stacy) of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Laura Somerville, Brian Krier (Jackie), Tina Krier, Steve Klinkhammer (Kristi), Bridget Bartlett (Paul), Shawn Stackis (Stacy), Kelly Stackis, Alex Stackis, Ashley Steffans (Logan), Cameron and Cody Stackis; her great grandchildren, Austin Somerville, Zachary Somerville, Ethan Somerville, Peyton Somerville, Isabele Krier, Isaac Krier, Hallie Krier (Forest Copeland), Amanda Schwartz, Debbie Lee Schwartz, Bailey Klinkhammer, Kara Klinkhammer, Tessa Klinkhammer, Aiden Bartlett, Sawyer Bartlett, Brianna Stillmunkes Stackis, McKenna Stackis, Rylie Stackis, Brynlee Stackis, Aleece Stackis, Kaylee Stackis, Ashleigh Stackis, Rohan Stackis and Grayson Stackis; her great great grandchildren, Maverick, Marcello Copeland, Catalina Stackis and Rowan Stackis; her sisters, Shirley Butlett of Dubuque and Margie Sutter of Dubuque; and her close friend Vern Brownell of Holy Cross.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Leonard Funeral Home (2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Marie C. Stackis Memorial Fund.
