He was predeceased by: his parents, William P. Knapp and Mary J. Knapp-Manternach (Federspiel); and his stepfather Orland "Bub" Manternach. He is survived by: his wife Joan M. Fangmann; his children, Stacey Vorwald (Mike) of Peosta and Kevin Knapp (Melanie) of Lake Zurich; the mother of his children Joan Knapp of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Owen, Robyn, Olivia, Cole, Adalynn, Ella and Stella; and his siblings, Rick Knapp (Mary) of Asbury, Kayla Melloy (Mike) of Coralville, Kenny Knapp (Kim) of Fayette, Tom (Al Martin) of Miami, Lori Lust of Estero and Beth Duccini (Tom) of Dubuque, Iowa.
