He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Fleckenstein and Marie Fleckenstein (Rueter); his wife Mary Donnelly; his brothers, Ray Fleckenstein (Helene) and Jim Fleckenstein; his brothers-in-law, William Donnelly Jr. and Jim Donnelly; and his nephew William Donnelly III.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Jo Ayers (Dave) of Dubuque, Kathleen Smith (Rod) of New Castle, PA, Joe Fleckenstein (Karen) of Peosta, Tom Fleckenstein of Dubuque, David Fleckenstein of Haslet, TX and Anne Burke (Michael) of Cortland, IL; his sister Mary Ann Clemens; and his sisters-in-law, Louise Donnelly and Julie Donnelly. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren with one due in August, 1 step grandson, and 2 step great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque County Right to Life or Hospice of Dubuque.
