She was predeceased by: her husband Louis Avenarius; her parents, Herbert Benn and Viola Benn; her stepfather Charles Rausch; her mother-in-law Alvina Avenarius; her sister Lillian; her brother-in-law Jack Rapp; her brother Herbert "Bud"; her siblings-in-law, Donna Benn, Marie and Edward Valentine; and her granddaughter Katie Jo Schoenberger (Amos).
She is survived by: her children, Vickie Amos (Jim) of Peosta, Randy Avenarius (Dawn) of Dubuque, Lynn Keiffer (Dennis) of Bellevue and Terry Avenarius (Linda) of Dubuque. She is also survived by one great-great grandson; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A wake was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 3:45 PM at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory (2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003). Visitation was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph Church (10204 Key W Dr, Dubuque, IA 52003).
