He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Steichen and Margaret Steichen (Kirkpatrick); his wife Patricia McGuire; and his siblings, Kenneth, Robert, William, Rosemary (Severson), John and Glenn.

He is survived by: his children, Karl (Kassandra Powell), Karen Huskins (Brian), Paul (Bich Tran) and Kathy (Christopher Urias); and his sisters, Rita, Mary Lou Konrardy and Joann Malec. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
