He was predeceased by : his parents, Leonard John and Catherine M. Brandel (Freund); his parents-in-law, Henry and Lillian Torrey; and his siblings, Jane Hansel and Gerald "Dewey" Brandel.
He is survived by : his children, Cathy Aydt (Brian) of Astoria, OR and Jeff Brandel (Kate) of Centennial, CO; his grandchildren, Brandon Aydt (Marissa), Nicole Aydt, Elizabeth Brandel and Sean Brandel; his great grandchild Bennett Aydt; and his brothers, Jack Brandel (Jane) of Dubuque and Timothy Brandel (Deb) of Dubuque.
