He is survived by: his wife Sandy Smith of Dubuque; his children, Bobby Smith (Janet) of Fairfax, Chris "Hymie" Smith of Dubuque and Dawne Greenwood (John) of Dubuque; his grandsons, Justin Smith, Michael (Isabel) and Alec Hafeman; his great grandchild Maria; his siblings, Lynn Smith (Lynn) of Dubuque, Terry Smith (Janice), Kevin Smith (Ann) of Dubuque and Cathy Morley of Spring, TX; and his sister-in-law Deb Smith of Dubuque. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
